Bonita Bay Marina offers hurricane haul out service

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (May 30, 2012) – Bonita Bay Marina, the full-service marina adjacent to the Bonita Bay community in Bonita Springs, offers shelter to area boaters: In the event of an approaching hurricane, the marina will haul out and store boats for the length of the storm, typically two to three days.

Tibe Larson, marina manager, said the $75 haul out service is available to Southwest Florida boaters seeking harborage in one of three dry storage barns at the marina. Boaters may want their vessel relocated or prefer to navigate into the Bonita Bay Marina, located on the Imperial River a short distance from Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico (GPS: N 26 degrees 20.315 W 081 degrees 49.677).

"We’ve been fortunate the past couple of years that no major storms have threatened our area," said Larson. “Odds are that at some point in the future, another hurricane will come our way. And just like preparing a home to weather the storm, boaters should be prepared with a plan to protect their boats. Our dry storage can accommodate boats up to 34 feet and provide shelter for the duration."

The marina, with wet slips for vessels up to 16,000 pounds, also offers slip rentals from $264 per month, as well as boat maintenance, onsite non-ethanol fueling, detailing, charters and shopping at the Ships Store.
