Matter Brothers’ Linda Valenza designs single-family Hawthorne model at Verandah

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 9, 2012) – Linda Valenza, a designer with Matter Brothers Furniture & Design in Naples, has completed the interior design for Lennar's Hawthorne model, the newest single-family model home in Verandah.
Verandah is the 1,456-acre award-winning master-planned community located along a 1.75-mile stretch of the Orange River in Fort Myers.
Valenza has created a palette of taupes, soft spa blues and greens contrasted by dark-toned wood and woven furnishings from Matter Brothers for the three-bedroom Hawthorne.
The 3,193-square-foot model home, one of three single-family floor plans offered by Lennar in Verandah, is located in the Arlington Oaks neighborhood and overlooks upland preserves, lakes and the Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co-designed Whispering Oak golf course.
Accents in the home include art niches and tray ceilings with metallic faux finish and ceiling medallions and use chair railing and light and medium taupe tones on the walls throughout the home.
Standard features in the Hawthorne include granite kitchen and bathroom countertops, raised panel maple cabinetry, tray ceilings and crown molding. Upgraded items include a pool and spa package, oversized tile flooring and a summer kitchen.
"I really liked the openness of this floor plan and the high ceilings," said Valenza. "The Hawthorne has a lot of great natural lighting, and the transitional design is a classic look that captures the lightness and openness of Florida."
Also known for custom window treatments and bedding through her "Finishing Touches by Linda," Valenza used mostly plantation shutters throughout the Hawthorne, which offers 4,948 total square feet, including a covered lanai, entry and three-car garage.
The Hawthorne offers a formal dining room, den, two full baths, powder room, pool bath and breakfast nook, where Valenza will place a counter-height table and stools. "People really like the higher table," she said. "You just slide in and don't have to step up."
A built-in serving area in the dining room has a granite countertop and upper and lower cabinetry.
The adjoining kitchen offers stainless steel energy-efficient appliances, including a four-burner gas stove, hood, dishwasher and French-door refrigerator with a bottom freezer drawer. The kitchen also has a walk-in corner pantry, tiled backsplashes with tumbled edges, a free-standing island breakfast bar with dual sinks and a center island.
Sliding glass doors in the great room open to the screened lanai and pool area, which has a summer kitchen equipped with a stainless steel grill and refrigerator and a stacked stone backsplash.
White crown molding and a dark wood headboard contrast the master bedroom's soft taupe and blue walls. The suite offers his-and-her walk-in closets and an oversized bathroom featuring two vanities, a water closet, walk-in shower and garden tub.
The model's two guest rooms have walk-in closets and share a full bathroom with shower and dual-sink vanity.
The Hawthorne, base priced at $469,990, also offers a large laundry room with front-loading washer and dryer.
Lennar, the exclusive builder in Arlington Oaks, also offers the four-bedroom, three-bath Magnolia and four-bedroom, three-bath Cypress. The homes have 3,202 and 2,809 square feet of living space, respectively, and are priced from $449,900.
Verandah offers villa homes and estate, custom and traditional single-family homes in a variety of neighborhoods, including homes available for immediate occupancy.
